About Me
My name is Julien Mark, I am a digital artist creating abstract experiences that engage the sight and emotions of the viewers. This process begins with photographs of my everyday life which I manipulate with destructive editing techniques to create a new non representational image. My passion for abstraction is inspired by Russian avant-garde artists such as Wassily Kandinsky and Kazimir Malevich.
My illustrative work is inspired by the blend of cultures that shape me as a person. I deconstruct iconic cartoons or icons and retouch them with Japanese art styles to bring my Japanese American identity to the forefront of the artwork. The worlds I create in these drawings are what I call beyond pop art, because they are a personalized interpreteation of these cultures.
I let my passion for innovation lead me to the University of Denver where I acquired a degree in Emergent Digital Practices with a minor in Entrepreneurship. I’ve developed skills in graphic design, interactive motion graphics, coding, visual programming, 3D modeling and animation, 3D printing, as well as Augmented Reality.
